Wrist Pain
HOME / Wrist Pain
What are the causes of Wrist Pain and Treatment ?
Wrist joint pain is a common affliction in today’s world. The causes and their management depend on an accurate diagnosis. Pain in wrist may arise from:
- Joints of the wrist or even thumb
- Inflammation of the lining of the wrist joints
- Inflammation of the tendons of the thumb, wrist or even forearm
- Nerve injuries
The main causes of pain in wrist are
- Injury due to falls
- Repetitive strain injury due to manual work or sport.
- Arthritis including age related arthritis.
- Tendon inflammation.

Management:
We at Renew Skin and Health Clinic advice you to seek help from your own doctor but mostly the first line of management is conservative. This is NSAID and rest and/or physiotherapy. If this does not work then steroid injections may be considered which we can help you with. The steroid injection is particularly useful for:
- Pain at the base of thumb. (CMC joint)
- Wrist pain due to thumb tendons inflammation (De Quervains tenosynovitis)

FAQs
What are the most common causes of wrist pain?
Wrist pain is commonly caused by injuries from falls, repetitive strain from work or sports, arthritis, tendon inflammation, or nerve-related problems. Pain may arise from the wrist joint itself, thumb joint, tendons, or surrounding soft tissues.
When should I see a doctor for wrist pain?
You should consult a doctor if wrist pain persists beyond a few days, worsens with movement, is associated with swelling or numbness, or affects daily activities. Early diagnosis helps prevent long-term damage and ensures proper treatment.
How is wrist pain usually treated?
Most cases are treated conservatively with rest, NSAIDs (pain-relieving medication), and physiotherapy. If symptoms do not improve, steroid injections may be recommended, especially for thumb base pain or tendon inflammation such as De Quervain’s tenosynovitis.
Are steroid injections safe for wrist pain?
Steroid injections are generally safe when given by experienced clinicians and can provide effective relief for specific conditions like CMC joint arthritis or tendon inflammation. However, results vary from person to person, and a medical assessment is essential before treatment.
Surgical Treatment at Renew Clinic
Renew Clinic offers advanced surgical treatments for a range of genital cysts, catering to each patient’s unique needs. Our surgical interventions are designed to alleviate discomfort, reduce the risk of complications, and restore physical and emotional well-being.
Surgical Options:
1.Incision and Drainage:
For cysts that are infected or causing discomfort, a minor surgical procedure involves making an incision to drain the cyst’s contents and promote healing.
2.Excision:
Larger or recurrent cysts may necessitate surgical excision, where the cyst is removed entirely along with its sac to minimize the risk of recurrence.
3.Marsupialization:
In cases of Bartholin’s gland cysts, a surgical technique called marsupialization may be employed. This involves creating a small incision and suturing the edges to promote continuous drainage.
