Thread veins, also called Spider or broken veins are medically called ‘telangiectasia’. They are very small blood vessels within the superficial layer of skin (the dermis) that have become dilated and visible. When small, they appear as red, and as they get bigger, the color changes from purple to red to green
This can occur at any age but are more common in the older age group, and about 88% of females and 79% of males.
