What is Verrucae or Foot Wart?

Plantar warts or verrucae are warts appearing on the soles of your feet, which in most cases are extremely painful, sore, and bothersome, requiring removal. Being slightly different from common warts, verrucae mostly affect children and teens but can appear in adults as well.

Verrucae are caused by the HPV or Human Papillomavirus strains 1.2.4 and 63. Highly contagious, plantar warts in particular, and any type of wart for that matter, can be transmitted through direct or indirect contact, from one person to another, or from one area of the body to another, personal hygiene being thus of utmost importance.

Plantar warts or verrucae are also caused by high-risk factors such as skin trauma, use of public showers, or a weakened immune system due to the use of certain medications or illnesses.

Do they spread?

Warts are highly contagious. They are transmitted by direct skin contact (when you pick at the wart and then touch another area of your body). It can also spread through towels or razors. Warts like moist, and soft or injured skin

How is the diagnosis confirmed?

Usually, the diagnosis of a wart is made on a clinical basis. However, a biopsy can be done to confirm it.

Renew Skin & Health Clinic recommends people suffering from plantar warts undergo our safe and highly effective verruca removal laser treatment using the ND:Yag and CO2 technologies. To determine however that you indeed suffer from verrucae on the soles of your feet, you will undergo a specialized consultation, during which our dermatologist or GP will determine the exact condition of your plantar wart and eliminate the possibilities of other skin conditions resembling the verruca, such as corns, calluses, nevi or other potentially malignant skin lesions.

ND:Yag and CO2 laser treatments for verruca removal are ideal due to their non-surgical nature, minimum invasiveness and the fact that they are painless and virtually scarless. Not to mention that plantar warts have a very low chance for recurrence after the verruca laser treatment performed at Renew Skin & Health Clinic. Lasting for just a few minutes for each verruca, the ND:yag and CO2 laser therapies act by destroying the blood supply to the affected cells while also altering the DNA of the Human Papillomavirus, eliminating the plantar wart completely. There is no downtime involved, and complete recovery, with amazing successful cosmetic results can be seen in 2-3 weeks.

Benefit now from the advantages ensured by the revolutionary Nd:yag and CO2 laser therapies for effective verruca removal or plantar warts removal and you’ll never have to worry about your feet warts ever again. This verruca treatment is excellent from all points of view and when performed by highly experienced practitioners such as ours at Renew Skin & Health Clinic, you will simply be thrilled with the results.
