What is Penile and Scrotal Cyst?
Cysts are small, capsule-shaped swellings that are filled with fluid especially as you get older. They are mostly harmless and don’t usually appear on the penis, but it is possible. They may be a symptom of a sexually transmitted disease (STD) or other underlying conditions.
They can occur due to poor hygiene standards, sexually transmitted diseases, exposure to tobacco products, penile trauma, as a complication of circumcision, or may be congenital.
How to identify a penile or scrotal cyst?
These are benign cysts that feel firm or hard to touch. They appear the same color as your skin or may appear slightly discolored, are of the same texture as the surrounding skin. They may not be associated with pain or may be tender or sensitive to touch and they rarely change size or shape. If the cyst bursts, the area may become inflamed or infected. If infection occurs, the area will be extremely sore. They may also develop a high fever and feel fatigued.
