What is Molluscom Contagiosum?
Molluscum contagiosum is basically an epidermal skin infection caused by a virus, which is known as molluscum contagiosum or poxvirus. This virus produces benign lesions, or bumps, on the superficial layers of the infected personโs skin. They usually appear on the neck, face, armpits, arms, and surface of childrenโs hands or even genital areas between 2 to 8 weeks after viral infection.
